The Islamabad Club’s Library & Literary Committee organized an event to pay tribute to Parveen Shakir, a renowned poet who made valuable contributions to the literary landscape of Pakistan on December 8th. Her poetry is still popular among people from all over the country.
The program featured insightful discussions led by Mam Parveen Qadir Agha, Mam Rafaqat Javed, Dr. Humera Ashfaq, and Mr. Akhtar Viqar Azeem, and the event was hosted by Sufia Shahid, who shared their thoughts on her life and works. The audience had the opportunity to explore her poetic journey, appreciate the beauty and depth of her words, and witness a rare documentary of the poet.
The event was made even more special by the heartfelt video message from Parveen Shakir’s son, Murad (Geetu), and the performance of three of her Ghazals by Gulshan Jehan, the granddaughter of Raishma.
To commemorate Parveen Shakir’s literary legacy, a small exhibit of her books was arranged. Visitors were able to immerse themselves in her poetic world and experience the timeless beauty of her words.
