Ratta Hottar Valley

Ratta Hottar Valley | Sunday, 23 November 2025
On a beautiful, golden, sunlit morning, 58 hikers gathered at the Ratta Hottar spot in front of the Gillani Shrine, including children, young boys and girls, and participants of mature age.
Islamabad Club’s human resources from Sports were fully engaged in facilitating the cricket team and could not be spared for the hike- the Sports Management therefore advised postponing the activity. However, the hike remained possible thanks to close collaboration with the Wildlife Board, which deputed four rangers to guide the group, manage basic arrangements in the absence of Islamabad Club staff. The Wildlife rangers performed exceptionally, ensuring the hike was smooth, safe, and well-managed.
Excitement filled the air—especially among the children—running freely in the open grounds under the bright sun. The hikers proceeded in a line through the narrow trail of Ratta Hottar, a serene green valley wrapped in dense forest.
The first resting point was Bee ki Batti, where an elderly woman of the Gillani family once sat and meditated. Later, the group also visited her grave located in the family’s small graveyard. Along the way, the wildlife rangers shared the fascinating story of rescuing a wild female bear from the Karachi Zoo for relocation to Deosai—her natural habitat. The bear is currently in a sanctuary within the Margalla Hills.
The group enjoyed the 4.5 km walk, taking in the scenery, stories, and sunshine, and everyone returned happy and refreshed.
