Islamabad Club’s 28th Family Bicycle Ride: A Spirited Journey with a Note of Resilience
On the morning of September 14, 2025, the Islamabad Club’s Cycling Committee hosted its 28th Family Bicycle Ride, drawing an enthusiastic group of members for a 30-kilometer journey despite the hot and humid weather. The ride, which began at the club’s gate on Srinagar Highway, did Park Road loop to Taramri Chowk returned through Orchard Scheme, the new underpass and entered club via the scenic Garden Avenue. It offered both exhilaration and challenges, culminating in a hearty breakfast that fostered camaraderie and celebration.
The route presented several tests for the cyclists. The warm, humid conditions demanded careful hydration and pacing, particularly on the busy Park Road, where riders navigated moderate inclines and vehicular traffic with vigilance. The turnaround at Taramri Chowk required precise coordination to keep the group safe in a bustling intersection. The return leg particularly along Garden Avenue, while quieter, featured uneven surfaces and gravel patches that tested balance and bike handling, especially after the outbound exertion. The Cycling Committee’s effective planning, with the Convenor as ride leader maintaining a steady pace, ensured the group stayed cohesive despite varying skill levels.
However, the ride was not without incident. One rider, who had briefly separated from the group, experienced a nasty fall, resulting in injuries. Thankfully, the ride is now recovering well, demonstrating the resilience that defines our cycling community. The group promptly ensured the rider received assistance, highlighting the importance of safety protocols and group support during such events.
The ride concluded with a well-earned breakfast, where participants shared stories, laughter, and reflections on the morning’s adventure. The Cycling Committee extends heartfelt thanks to all participants for their spirit and determination, Dr. Fareed Minhas, Mirvais Niaz and Mazhar Faiz for recording, & sharing, the memories as videos and photographs with special wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured rider. We look forward to more thrilling rides that strengthen our community’s bond.
Stay safe, keep pedaling, and join us for the next adventure on last weekend of this month!
