Islamabad Club’s Silver Jubilee (25th) Family Bicycle Ride
Islamabad Club’s Silver Jubilee (25th) Family Bicycle Ride
The ride organised on 26th July marked Silver Jubilee of Islamabad Club’s Family Bicycle Rides.
The cycling members gathered as usual at the Cycling Hub and started off at 6 am. Ride on Garden Avenue, through Sharkarparian park as always was a very refreshing experience. The riders exited on Islamabad Highway and into a very light Saturday morning traffic. This time we had decided on a different route and instead of going all the way to Margalla Avenue, we turned left and took the new overhead bridge to 9th Avenue. We then went into Fatima Jinnah Park and rode in its cobblestone and gravel pathways stopping for photos a couple of times; it was an enjoyable experience. We came out from Bolan Gate and took Margalla Avenue for our return journey. By that time, the sun had become quite hostile, but we managed to find shaded lanes including those inside F-7. Final approach to the Club was through 7th Avenue and Garden Avenue completing a little over 32 kms of a memorable ride. A joint breakfast to top-off the cycling experience is now an established tradition, and members savoured a very nicely prepared, mainly desi, breakfast.
The next ride, the Independence Day Ride, is on 14th August.
